Composed and co-arranged by Christine Tavares-Mocha, the accomplished director of vocal music at Valencia (CA) High School, this piece takes a first-person perspective of a refugee and highlights the particular suffering and constant anxiety visited upon refugees at this particularly contentious time in American history. A low alto or a tenor soloist is featured, along with a brief duet, and the ensemble writing varies between stark and dense throughout.
A cappella

Commissioned by "Two 'n' Four" from Valencia High School (CA), Christine Tavares-Mocha, dir. (2020)
