Dan Shimon is a student at The School For Music Vocations in Creston, Iowa, where he performs in the DownBeat-award-winning vocal jazz ensemble First Take. As a member of the ensemble, he has toured throughout Iowa and the Midwest, including several appearances at Noce Jazz Club in Des Moines, and has worked with Take 6, Accent, and The Manhattan Transfer. In addition to his work as a vocalist at the SMV, Dan studies guitar, bass, piano, and arranging, and has written several vocal jazz arrangements, including his recent adaptations of the music of Laila Biali.
