A fun party tune by Sammy Rae and The Friends, “Denim Jacket” features the ensemble in three parts throughout, with a soprano/alto soloist featured through much of the chart and the ensemble working as background vocalists until the choruses (and a bridge section). The lyric addresses the idea of social anxiety, saying that the speaker’s super-cool denim jacket gives them the confidence they need. A group vocal percussion break is notated for the vocalists, with the soloist sing/rapping over the top. Optional alto and tenor saxophone parts can add additional fun texture to your performance, and the chart can work well as an opener or closer, due to its high energy.
