Commissioned by "Pacific Standard Time" from Cal State Long Beach for their 2020 performance at the Jazz Education Network conference, this wordless Lionel Loueke composition is utterly gorgeous and full of groove and musical surprises. A very simple melodic theme is present through the whole piece, supported by a kaleidoscope of harmonic reimagining and lush vocal ensemble writing. Space for improv (supported with backgrounds) allows each group to make this their own, and and a chills-producing finish makes this an ideal closer for an advanced vocal jazz ensemble.
