Some solid Oakland soul for your vocal jazz group! Tower of Power's classic from their album "T.O.P." is faithfully adapted for vocal jazz ensemble, and the chart will bring down the house! Four part vocals are rhythmically grooving like the original (not watered-down for publishing), but are singable, especially with the demo and Part Tracks in hand. The biggest feature for the chart, though, is that the horn parts are written as flexibly as possible; Version 1 is like a Tower of Power horn section transcription, for groups with a strong lead trumpet player - Version 2 is a "lowered" lead trumpet part with the lower voicings reconciled appropriately...still cool, but more playable by student trumpet players - THEN, there are also substitute alto sax and trombone parts included that can be swapped out with either version in case you'd like to feature those horns instead. All in all, an adaptable chart that will get your audience and students charged up and having a blast!
Note to directors: A full score is included in the pdf with purchase, as well as a "sub-score" containing all of the extra horn parts written for adaptability.
