STARTER SERIES
A floating and sweetly melancholy arrangement of the Gershwin classic from the Great American Songbook, this arrangement is written to be highly approachable for younger groups, while still giving them a musically interesting palate of sounds and colors to perform, aided by slightly unconventional rhythm section writing (fully-notated). The arrangement is written without any solo features and the piano part can serve on its own as the accompaniment, making it logistically easy to put together with a traditional choir as well as a vocal jazz ensemble. A brief wordless soli is carefully crafted to provide a texture change, with each part singing their own simple wordless line interweaving with the others. This can work beautifully as the ballad for your group's program, and it exposes your students to am important song from jazz and popular music history.
