Chart Info
This fun Shawn Mendes pop tune is arranged here in a “pseudo-a cappella” setting, meaning that there’s no piano or other comping instrument, and the ensemble vocals remain active in their support of a big solo feature, and instead of vocal bass, an electric bass part is written that can alternatively be sung wordlessly. Percussion is assigned to clapping (either by a special group or the whole choir) and bass drum. Valencia High School, who commissioned the chart, used two marching bass drums on stands for that part, but a drum set player could easily stand in for the bass drum and clapping roles. The unusual textures from the arrangement make this an especially fun one to put together, and the jazz reharmonization adds some complexity and interest to the pop tune.
Fully-notated bass part, percussion/clapping part (opt. drum set), optional piano/guitar using included chord symbols on the vocal part
